ICC World Cup 2019, Pakistan vs New Zealand, Babar Azam Ton Helped Pakistan Beat New Zealand. Pakistan hopes still alive for Semis.
After having a poor run in the initial half, the men-in-green are showing some great skills here. They won against South Africa and now have thrashed the best team of this World Cup. Pakistan is rewriting their 1992 World Cup journey exactly the way it happened.
Let’s have a look at the best moments of this game
Shaheen Afridi’s dream spell
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Mohammad Amir as usual gave the early breakthrough, as he got Martin Guptill out. Shaheen Afridi removed Colin Munro followed by the crucial wicket of Ross Taylor.
The wicket of Tom Latham by the 19-year-old lad push New Zealand completely on backfoot. The men-in-green were at driving seat and the wicket of Kane Williamson sets them completely in commanding position.
Neesham – Grandhomme brought New Zealand back in the game
After the disaster, Colin de Grandhomme joined Jimmy Neesham who himself was struggling to survive at the crease. The hard-hitter took the charge as soon as he arrived and put back pressure on bowling side.

Both the them initially stabilised the innings and then went on to play big shots in the slog. The hundred runs partnership and Jimmy Neesham’s career best 97 in World Cups helped Kiwis to a fighting score.
Openers failed yet again
Chasing below 250’s on this turning track was a tricky task. Trent Boult packed Fakhar Zaman while Imam-ul-Haq became the victim of well directed bouncer of Lokie Ferguson.
Experienced Mohammad Hafeez and talented Babar Azam started the build a partnership. The pressure was back on Kiwis. Looking at the nature of the surface, the skipper himself opened his arm. The things actually worked. Mohammad Hafeez for the third time in ICC World Cup 2019, became the victim of part-timer.
I think this is the best ODI knock of mine, because it was a must-win game. Track was a bit slow and also spinning a bit. Idea was to bat till the end and it worked well for us: Man of the Match, @babarazam258. #WeHaveWeWill #CWC19 #NZvPAK pic.twitter.com/wvYyMO1by3

Babar Azam ton seals it for Pakistan
Pakistan were seeming quite off-track while New Zealand bowlers kept on adding pressure. But for the first time in this tournament, Babar Azam looked calm and composed and was looking to hold bat till end.
Finally, with excellent calmness and partnership with Haris Sohail, Babar Azam did it for Pakistan. Pakistan beat New Zealand, as they still remains in hunt while the Kiwis tasted their first defeat in the tournament thus far.
